Committee Description
Our world is experiencing a period of escalating violent conflicts, from Gaza to Sudan to Ukraine. As violence intensifies, gender-based violence in conflict zones demands urgent international attention. Gender-based violence (GBV) in conflict zones disproportionately affects women and girls, exacerbating their vulnerability and denying them fundamental human rights. This form of violence which includes sexual violence, trafficking, forced displacement, and exploitation, is often used as a weapon of war to terrorize, humiliate, and displace civilian populations. Addressing GBV in conflict requires comprehensive measures, including legal frameworks to hold perpetrators accountable, survivor-centered support systems, and gender-sensitive conflict resolution strategies. In this committee, delegates will explore solutions to strengthen international cooperation, enforce existing laws, and develop new strategies that prevent GBV in conflict situations, protect victims, and ensure justice and recovery for survivors.
Achieving global gender equality is impossible without addressing gender discrimination in the workplace. Despite significant progress in recent decades, women and gender minorities continue to face systemic barriers in professional environments, including unequal pay, limited career advancement opportunities, gender-based harassment, and biased hiring practices. These forms of discrimination not only undermine individual potential but also hinder economic growth and societal development. In this committee, delegates will examine strategies to eliminate gender-based disparities in the workplace, focusing on policy reforms, corporate accountability, and the promotion of inclusive, equitable work environments.
